gears for 96 cobra?

I will soon replace my stock 3:27 gears. Some of you have mentioned going with at least 4:10s. What kind of rpm will the motor be turning @ 75 mph? Will they whine? How much will the fuel mileage decrease on the highway and how is highway driving? What much will it improve 1/4 mile times? Any information is greatly appreciated with any size gear ratios. Also anyone selling any performance parts that will fit on a 96 Cobra can contact me, I am interested.

I have 4.10s in my 97 Cobra. That and subframes were the first modifications I did. (Quite a few followed)

At 70 mph I turn just about 2500. So at 75 that would be about 2680. Initially my milage went down, then I got used to them and my milage went back to about what it was before. Approx. 18 mph city, 23 or so highway.

It takes a little while to learn how to launch it correctly, but 4.10s or 4.30s should net you about .3 or so in the 1/4. I would go with FRPP (Ford) gears. Look around in the mags for the best price. $180 is reasonable.

As far as whine. They might. Some do, some don't. Mine do a little sometimes while going down hill on the interstate with cruise control. If they do, an aluminum drive shaft usually cures it. The whine is caused by a harmonic between the drive shaft and the gears.
