2V puliies... What you running?
I am gonna order up some underdrives, but I want to know what brand pullies you SOHC guys are running. Do you have the pullies that piggyback, or did you cough up the extra cash and go for the ones that replace the balancer pulley?
BBK, MAC, etc piggyback. Steeda and I believe FMS (not sure) rplace the balancer pulley. Question: - if you have the piggyback pullies have you have any problems installing them or problems w/ them coming loose. Thanks, all comments will be very helpful. ------------------ 1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Black w/ grey leather Modified mustang MAC Cold air into ram air, Motorsport 9mm wires, Soon: custom exhaust, chip, built Trans,. yadda yadda yadda Recently totaled (tear): 91 LX 5.0L 5 spd Red w/ black interior 2 chamber flowmasters, Bassani off-road X-pipe, MAC cold air induction, Kirban short throw, Heavy duty 3 core radiator, FMS 3:73's, Timing bump to 14 degrees, SRP billet racing pedals, Kenwood sound system |
Hey I was cheap and went with the piggy back. The installation was simple and the results were satisfying, if you have any questions or problems email me.

I went with Steeda. They have great stuff.

Hmmmm....what exactly is the "piggback" kind? I don't know that much about underdrive pullies and I, too, am looking into getting some.

From everything I have read, you don't want to go with the piggyback style. I plan on ordering the Steeda pullies, they seem to be the best, they come with a new dampner.

On my '99 I choose the Steeda underdrives, cost more than the "piggy-back" style but well worth it in my opinion.

i have had the piggyback ford motorsport pullies for over a year and not one problem. great performance increase as well.

I just got a set of ASP pullies installed a few weeks ago everything was going fine until about a week ago I noticed a squeeking sound like it sounds like it might be my belt slipping or something. Have anyone else experienced anything like this after getting pullies installed??

I decided to go w/ the FRPP pulleys. I found a set that was only used for a few hours of dyno testing, so I paid less then half price for them. I am going to put a new belt on when I do the pulleys to avoid the worn belt from slipping. Once I get them installed, i'll report back and tell you how it went and if I notice any difference or problems.
