Why I love my Ford
Last night on the way home from work I decided to see how fast I could get my car going on a stretch of road that leads into a sharp 30mph curve after a long straightaway. Previous attempts before the exhaust were close to 125mph. Last night she made it all the way to 135mph and was climbing a lot faster than before. I nearly lost it in the 30mph curve that I have taken many a night at the same speeds (about 70mph). After the adrenaline wore off and I looked down at the gauges to my horror my temp gauge was off the charts. I almost cried. I got it home (I was only a mile or so away when I noticed this) and it wasn't steaming or anything or making any weird noises, whew. But when I woke up this morning I could see why I almost lost it on that 30mph curve. I have coolant all down the side of my car http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif
I checked the coolant and the oil and there are no signs (yet) of fluid mixing so I don't think I blew a head gasket. What water pump do you guys recommend? I have a set of underdrive pullies waiting to be installed and need a high flow pump (prferably polished aluminum). I have a friend that will sell me a used Stewart high flow pump for $70. But I need one right away and his is still on his car. Thanks. ------------------ Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here |
Kevin..what the hell were you thinking? Well atleast you and your car survived the 30mph turn. I run the Stewart pump (non-polished $69.00) and it is awesome, with the Ron Davis Radiator, the Stewart pump and a 195 thermo my car never runs over 180 degrees, I am afriad it will run too cool now that my A/C stuff is gone and the radiator will get more air flow.
I think a brand new polished Stewart is $89 or $99, the non polished is $69. I am having thoughts about getting rid of my TB, the 65 saves some low end for me, and with the 2.02 valves I give up a lot of low end as it is, but with the 4:30's installed I really don't have to worry about low end. Well as you can see I haven't made up my mind I'll get back to you soon.. ------------------ My Ride Check Out My Site 91GT, Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60",Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes, 2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe, 2 1/2" cat back, 12" K&N Filter, RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air, Ron Davis Radiator, Full Suspension,3:73's, Welds, Best on new motor-12.60 @ 108, no traction 1.98 |

Sounds awesome...those parts will really make a big difference. This summer should be fun! What about a cam? I can't remember if you have one or not. Also how did you attach your shift boot to your custom alum. cover...I like that Idea.

The cover is about 3/8" thick in the middle where the boot is and it just bolts to the bottom of it.
