Ram-Air Hood

I just purchased a Suncoast Creations functional ram-air hood for my 2000 GT.I was curious if anyone has one of these already and if so how do you like it?Did you notice a nice increase in performance or throttle response? They claim a 15-20 HP gain from this system.
I saw a nice 99 GT on page 172 of this months MM&FF issue that has this hood on it and it looks mean.I ordered that hood and the Cobra front bumper and fog light assembly for my GT and I just put 3.73's in last week.
That should be your first upgrade for this car!The stock 3.27's stink.Life is good with 3.73's gripping in the back!

Hey, what did it cost you to get the gears installed? Also, what recalibration device did you buy? I don't think these are cheap. Thanks.

I installed my 3:73 through the dFord dealership. They charged me $712 for parts and labor. They told me that the gears with some other parts that come with it cost $400.
You can buy this gears @steeda for $185 but in my case I wanted to have original Ford parts.

Total gear installation was $719.25.There was no need for recalibration I don't know if they (Transmission and Performance Specialties)did the recalibration themselves or what because everything seems fine and he didn't say I needed any recalibration. My friend asked me the same question. He wasn't sure if it needed it.He said he would ask his brother who works at a Ford Dealership as a mechanic. He said that it may possibly be able to recalibrate itself through the computer.

Generally you need a new speedo gear when you swap rear gears, or you could get the compensator gearbox from Sean Hyland Motorsports (around $130 I think) which installs between the tranny and speedo.

I do indeed need to get my speedo recalibrated. It's off almost 10MPH.I have to find out if Ford can do this with their computer or if I have to use an aftermarket scan tool.Ford may not have the scan tool for 3:73's since they are not factory stock or optional gears for the Mustang from the dealer.I'll let you's know what happens.

I got 3.73's in my 2000GT and for the speedo gear it is all computerized... I got a superchip burned with those specs.. And it worked fine...

I think Saleen has something that recalibrates gear /speedo in computer for $50. Now I have now idea if it works since it is new product.

For all you people that got the new 99 and up GT's, you don't need to recalibrate nothing . Your comoputer was better designed to accept changes a lot easier than 94-98. You should be able to rnu as low a gear ar 5.xx... but way over the 4.10 gears.

RUZMAN 02-01-2001 05:20 AM

I don't believe that is true St_Brawler!My friends brother works as a mechanic for a Ford Dealership ( Bonnell) in Massachusetts and he said that it does indeed need to be recalibrated.
