Ford A-holes!!

Well my intake blew last night. Wonderful!! What really pisses me off about it is that Ford knows the damn intakes will do it and have a freakin recall about it but won't replace it till it blows. That's nothing but BS. And it had to do it on a Friday night on the weekend when I can't get it in the shop to get fixed. I'm about ready to run this thing off a cliff between this and the tranny problems I've had with this POS T45. Damn I miss my 5.0. At least it had 147,000 miles on it and never had a problem with it at all. I think the only thing that was replaced or anything on it was the water pump. Damn this 4.6 and the T45!! I"ve got a nice little $75 tow bill I"m going to shove up Ford's azz, too. And that's not including the tow bill that'll be next week getting it to the dealer. That's just from having it towed home last night at 12:00 am in the morning. Had to vent ya'll.

Man that sucks. FORD = Fix Or Recall Daily http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

I heard that someone may be making an aftermarket intake for the 4.6, I think it may be edelbrock.

aurilius_maximus 02-17-2001 07:49 PM

Does anyone know if this problem is the same for the 96 4V 4.6l?

No, just on the cheap plastic intake on the 96-97 2V's. Happened on my 96GT.

Yeah, Ford is really showing no customer service w/ this one. I hope I am a hundred miles from the nearest Ford dealer when and if mine goes so they can pay a **** load of money to have it towed.

97snakedriver 02-18-2001 11:08 PM

Its weird that they let you break it first, then fix it. I have no idea why they do that. Some one needs a good kick in the head.

SMOKE 02-19-2001 07:35 AM

Damn that sucks. I thought they would replace the intake because the recall.

Not after it pops.

Very weird.

Sounds like a good time to get the FRPP intake.

95GTS 02-19-2001 11:23 AM

If I had the money it'd be nice to have a better intake, but it's getting replaced free so hopefully it'll be done right this time. I wish they'd at least throw on a 99 intake. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

Damn that must suck. But it kind of figures, that's what ya get for making the intake out of plastic instead of metal. Dumb Ford engineers. And I must agree that they do need a kick in the teeth for waiting till it pops before it get replaced. Hope you send them a big tow bill then.

S Howard 02-19-2001 07:12 PM

Seems to me if the service rep gave a $hit about their customers, he would be willing to credit the cost--parts and labor--of the plastic intake towards the purchase of FRPP intake or the '99.

95GTS 02-19-2001 09:39 PM

Wouldn't that be nice. I don't think Ford is that smart. For example, the regular intake is PLASTIC!!! Hello!! Who engineered that one? Probably made of old Coke bottles and beer bongs. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

When the intake blew on my 97 GT, last October, I said F*** It, and I traded it in for my 2000. Best move I ever made. Think about it.

I've been thinking about it but can't afford to right now.

Well, they put on a 98 version. Doubt that it breaths any better but they said that the 98 was better than the 96 for what that's worth.......
Now it's kinda missin out between 1700-2100 rpms when under acceleration and will do it occasionally at other rpms under acceleration. I took the mechanic, BTW all done by Ford ofcourse, for a ride and he said it might be the computer trying to relearn everything and to drive it a few days. If it doesn't clear up bring it back. Well I"ve had it a day and it isn't doing jack squat!! I tried to reprogram the computer and it didn't help. Needless to say I"ll be taking it back on Monday no doubt. I"ll try it all weekend but I doubt it'll make a difference. I"m about ready to run this thing off a cliff and stick the Ford mechanics in with it.

Well it's finally fixed. The missin out problem was the number 8 plug was bad. Even though I replaced the plugs about a month ago. It's finally running well again. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif
