'97 Cobra Computer info
Can anyone tell me if there is a publication, information source or an expert around who knows how to remove various emissions systems, PATS, secondary exhaust sensors, etc. from the car and fool the computer into thinking all is fine and allow it to let the engine to still run. Thanks in advance for any help. Later, Snake

You mean install a h-pipe? That removes the cats. If that what you're talking about...they make a x-pipe and h-pipe.

That PATS isn't an emission device, but look at 99GT's response for how to remove it here:
http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard...ML/000690.html To get rid of the Check Engine Light (it actually doesn't do anything else) with an offroad pipe you need a set of MLIs. www.dallasmustang.com sells them. |
The Cobra engine, trans, wiring harnesses, computer, dash, (not the steering column) and a few other things are being transplanted to a '55 T-Bird. That is why the various emissions systems and the pats are being deleted. Thanks, Snake

That sounds interesting! Did you buy the Cobra engine new? How much does your TBird weigh? It oughta be pretty snappy with the DOHC. Good luck! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

The bird should weigh between 2800# and 2900# wet. A lot of weight went away with the Cobra alum trans and engine and the '88 Vette alum IRS. The weight distribution should be just about 50-50 front to rear.
