Chip?
Anybody got any rec for a chip for 2K GT automatic, which will probably remain bone stock except for the chip?
I'm looking for better shift performance. Any HP increase is gravy. ------------------ 2K GT Stock FoolRichard |
Ive got a 96 GT auto, and i read in MM&FF that the only thing a chip does for an auto is help the converter lockup...for better shifts you need to get a shift kit, like a B&M or TransGo. Im actually thinking of getting the B&M because of the 4R70W and i dont know if the TransGo for the AODE will work. Hope this helps

Thanks, my issues with shifting is the shift points are well below redline even when I'm standing on it, and it locks up the TC under heavy throttle but let's it slip when I back off. Sounds really strange to let go of the throttle and have RPM increase.

a chip i think will change the shift points too and itll shift at a higher RPM but the shift kit will make it shift harder and more crisp, if yours is like mine, i HATE the way it shifts so im gonna buy both a chip and a shift kit.

Update:
I got a Diablo chip from 2D's Performance in LA ( http://www.super-chip.com/ ). $250 including overnight Saturday delivery. Delivery charges were about $35. Great customer service, no BS, and no hard sell. Butt-O-Meter says somewhere around 10% HP increase. Shifting with agressive throttle is a lot closer to redline than stock. The normal slightly rough and lean idle popping is gone, too. I figure it's worth it for an AOD tranny, maybe not for a stick with later models. If I still had the '98 GT AOD, I'd put one in in a heartbeat. ------------------ 2K GT Stock FoolRichard |
