New paint job
It's come time to repaint my car. I'm sticking with the stock color cuz my car only came in one color. What should I be asking for for a top-of-the-line paint job (i.e. how many base coats, clear coats, etc.)? I'm expecting to pay around $3k for the whole thing. Any suggestions?

If you go to any respectable shop that turns out quality work, you shouldn't have to ask...
The number of coats of base also depends on what color you are spraying the car...typically 3 to 4 coats...DEPENDING ON THE MATERIALS As far as the clear coat is concerned, everybody talks about 4 or 5 coats...not necessary. Two solid passes usually does the job..one again it depends on the materials... Everybody is going to have a different answer to this one though...
