Fuel surging problems
Ok all you know it all's out there- I need help. I have a 2001 GT with a vortech s/c. Around 1500-3000 rpm's at mid-throttle I am having whats called fuel pump surge. Is there anyone here that has had this problem or know a remedy for it? Vortech claims that it is common with the 99+ mustangs because of the returnless fuel system- But I have talked to others with the same set-up and its not been a problem. I have heard that a new fuel pump is supposed to coming out to take care of this- but I dont want to wait another 6 months or so. Also anyone have experience with BAP? I was thinking about even changing my entire fuel system back to a pre-99 system and using the FMU. Anyone done any of this? Any advice will be appreciated.

Ok where are the responses? Does anyone have any answers for me? Anyone here with a vortech s/c on a 2000 or 2001 GT? Any problems?

If your MIL indicator isn't on, then it is probably mechanical. I would have the EGR valve looked at. It might be dirty. Possibly a larger fuel pump is needed since it's blown and needs more fuel. Just a thought.

I have had wierd "non-mechanical" things happen without the MIL light coming on...
What MAF and injectors are you using? Are you using the stock computer, a vortech computer, or a custom tuned chip? ------------------ "The Yellowjacket" 381.8 rwhp 377.6 rwtq "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." |
It is a vortech chip and has 38lb injectors and a 255 lph fuel pump.

I used only what come with the 2001 Vortech kit. I have heard something about a BAP- what do you think about using that? Any experience with it? What about changing to a pre99 fuel system?
