you all are going to hate me for this

thinkin about getting a 94 mustang, v-6, for about 5k (depending on how well i bargain with the guy). then i would throw in a new 320 hp 5.0 liter with edelbrock heads, cobra intake, and a ford racing cam. the engine comes with a 3 year/36k mile warranty too. All this, including car & exhaust, will come to about 11k, bout same price as a stock 96 GT. does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone tried this before and had trouble with it? thanks for any input.

I think it can be a good idea. Just remember that the GT has a lot more than just a different engine, you've got suspension and stuff to deal with.

Although your insurance rates may help out with the cost difference.

you will also need the whole wiring harness they are totally different, also i believe the K member is different, you'll need the right trans to go with the motor, and i think the rear end is a 7.5 not the 8.8inch. the 7.5 will blow real fast with that much hp http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gifit can be done but it won't be cheap http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif
Why not get a 93 or older 5.0 if you want cheap hp?

thanks for the help........i was mistaken when i said v-6, i meant the GT. so i would get a 94 gt and put either a brand new block with edelbrock heads, f.m.s. cam, and cobra intake or brand new block stock heads and stroke it to a 347. going tomorrow to get the estimate back from the engine builder. wish me luck

Pick up an autotrader. Someone is probably out there selling one with all the work already done for the price you're going to pay. I'm looking at buying a 91 and using it as a project car. I've seen them as low as $3500 with a 5.0 already in it. Then you can stroke it for around $1500. Just a thought.

Forget the 5.0 and buy a '96-'01 Cobra! I'm saving every penny and dime to buy a '99.

I agree with Nitrous Al, Save up and buy a Cobra... In the long run, you can save a lot of headache and cash trying to get to the Cobra level. I've been holding out for quite some time myself, and have been dumping cash into a 89 LX. I finally made the jump to a 99 Cobra, and found a terrific deal out on the Internet. The difference is night & day as far as handeling goes (First year for the new Live axel...) If you can fit it into your budget that is... Personally, I've had to make some sacrifices, but ALL WORTH IT!!!

=)

Good Luck!
