3.55's...are they any good

I want to get new gears, and I found a good deal on some 3.55's....I need to know if these things are worth buying...Or if they're that much worse than the 3.73's...

I wouldn't waste time with 3.55's on a 99GT. Go with 3.73's or 4.10's. They won't even affect your mileage much - maybe 1-2mpg.
If you plan on getting a power adder later you should probably stay with 3.73's so that you will still trap in 4th. Otherwise, I would say go 4.10.

I'd say go with at least 4.10's. I am going to get 4.30's for my 01 but I won't be doing any highway driving.

I went with the 3:73 and dallas speedcal. Glad I did. Where I use to have to downshift to 4th to pass. I do it now in 5th gear with ease. Raises the car to a higher powerband and is very sweet.

For a NOTICEABLE difference, go with 3:73s or 4:10s...they are worth the money...make sure you get a quality brand ex: FRPP, Precision...etc...quiet and durable..

5-speed= 3.73s; Auto= 4.10s. Kind of a rule of thumb to go by for the daily driver. You can get new Fordmotorsport gears from Diversified Marketing Products for $149. Comes to $159 w/shipping.

96-98 GTs have different power bands than the 99-01 GT's.

Don't even bother with 3.55's they are a waste of your time and money. 3.73's will be a waste as well because at the track you'll be shifting into 4th just before the traps and whatever you picked up in your 60ft time you'll lose at the top end. Go with 4.10's.

I had 4.10's in my car, yes it's daily driven 75 miles per day mostly on the freeway. The car has 56K miles on it and gets 19MPG and on long trips gets 27MPG. Now I have 4.30's and love them and as before it's driven to work every day. I go through the traps in 4th at 5800RPM, which is optimal for a 99-01 GT.
