2000 GT Struts and Shocks in a 92?
 

My mustang still has stock shocks and struts (88K miles). I was going to get new shocks and struts from my friend who works at STS because he can get them at cost and wont charge labor. I saw that www.stangparts.com is selling takeouts from 99-2000 GT's on ebay and they are going for $50 for the set of 4 and they have less then 20 miles on them and they claim they will fit 87-93's. Would it be worth it to just spend $400+ to get new aftermarket ones? I am not planning on racing my car too much at the track, its also a daily driver and i dont want my teeth to chatter when i hit a bump. What do you guys think?

Come on guys! Doesn't anyone know how the struts off a 99-2000GT will compare to aftermarket ones and stock ones on a 92 GT?

Aftermarket shocks/struts are just that. Designed to offer superior handling characteristics to stock units. Whether or not it is worth it is up to you, aftermarket might/will be stiffer, harsher ride, but handle much better. With 88k on yours now, I think anything will be better, I really dont think the brand new stock units were THAT bad, and for $50, might as well try. I have heard they will fit your car, I have a 95 and were told I could use them as well.

I've got the shocks struts from stangparts for my 87GT.

The strut fit, no problems. I didn't have time to do the other (which wasn't totally blown) and the car rides better.

I'd say do it. I was looking at aftermarket sets too, I decided spending the $40 from stangparts for new struts/shocks was by far the best deal on the market. Even aftermarket cheapy units would set you back $70/strut easy.

I just don't see how you can go wrong for that price.
