Questions about 2001 GT's

I just sold my Cobra and bought a 2001 GT Conv. (5-speed) and I have some questions.

I don't want to get heavy into this car like my Cobra, but what bolt-on's are good and which ones to stay away from? I know alot about 5.0's but not the 4.6 I was thinking TB, mass-air, 4:10's, K&N, H-pipe, and cat-back exhaust.

With these bolt-on's what 1/4 times am I looking at?

I also heard that a new tranny was put in the 2001's, is this true? I was looking at a shifter and want to make sure it will fit.

So far I like my GT, it's not as fast as the Cobra was, but it is still quick. The only problem I have is I think my throw-out bearing is making a noise. I think that is from 250 miles on the car before I bought it.

4.10s, H or X pipe, mass air (in that order).
TB and cat-back are a waste of money as gains are minimal at best (1-2 hp). You can get the obligatory K&N (drop in). After the above recommended mods, you should consider a shifter and suspension mods.

Oops, almost forgot pulleys and a timing adjuster. I would do the pulleys before the mass air meter, but that's just me. Just don't waste your time with a cat-back or TB. Weld in new mufflers if you want a different sound but wait until after your X or H pipe. Am I confusing you yet? I'm all over the yard here. sorry.

I also heard that the tranny was changed for the 2001's but it has not been confirmed. I heard that they put a tremec tranny in it. I will be interested it finding out if this indeed has happened. I've been meaning to crawl underneath and get some ident numbers off of it. BTW, Good luck on you GT... Love mine...

Ripper, I have a guy who wants to sell me a SVO TB, Pro-M mass-air, and a K&N for $200. He said he pulled them off his 2000 GT before he sold it, I thought it was a good price.

I was alos thinking, gears, cat-back, H-pipe to start with. I really don't want pulleys, I heard they work on some cars, but not all!

I guess I will just get some 3 chamber Flowmasters welded in. As for the shifter, I am going to find out about the tranny, make sure the shiffter will fit.

Silver, so far I love mine, it has been sunny so my top has been down more then it has been up!!

The Pro-M is worth it alone. Make sure it's calibrated for stock fuel injectors. I would recommend pulleys. I noticed a big difference with them.
