Braking System
I was wondering what would be a good upgrade for street driving and cornering, instead of the stock system. I'm gonna get the 87+ spindles so it won't be a problem to go with better equipment, but I'm not considering a rear disc conv. anytime soon (budget probs)..
Any advice is appreciated... |
I recommend the 87+ front spindles. Then you can do the 73mm lincoln calipers. Use Performance Friction "Z" pads ($60). I ran on a combo like this for a few years. Check out www.maximummotorsports.com for some stock brake pads/ss-lines/guides kit...

here's the scoop, i'm buying the 17" three star dual spoke gt rims w/ tires for my 91'.
i need new brake pads too. i got 3:73 i need to install. there is a 95 style interceptor crown vic at a local bone yard w/ rear discs. will i be able to swap rotors/calapers/mounting brackets off of this car onto my 8.8 and newly aquired ranger 5-lug axel combo? (i'll probly pay someone to install the zoom gears for me) i've done a 5-lug conversion before on a buddies car, but don' feel confident with the whole "make sure you space your gears right" thing. any pointers on cheap brake swap/upgrades would be cool while i got the whole sytem apart. this post will probly help out 86gt too ------------------ 91 lx cobra intake, k&n, elc. fan, 3:73, pro 5.0 shifter, centerforce clutch, accufab quadrant, and 2chmbr flows w/ off road pipe.
