Which Shocks to buy? IRS? POSSIBLE?
 

First it's time i get me some new shocks. I was looking at this Tokico's from steeda.com for 68.00$ a pop...good shocks? What should i get? I like to corner hard...but im in ca and i don't want somtehing so incredibly stiff my stang will fall apart.Also would it be possible to buy all the stuff needed for irs from a crashed cobra asuming it was in good condition and bolt it on in place of my stock rear suspension? hrm... what do you think?

Tokikos are a name brand and are a good shock. I actually had a set on my car.

The IRS is do-able. Have seen for-sale IRS go for $2500 range, and those are near-new take-offs.

PPI lists the IRS for $1995, but they sold one on ebay for around $1500.

Ya, I wouldn't skimp on the shocks again. Koni's and Bilsteins are quite popular.

From what I hear, the IRS is pretty much a bolt in swap for the GT. The slickest setup I have seen is the Kenny Brown IRS - tubular crossmember and arms, revised geometry.

As far as those Tokicos, I believe the non-adjustables are the same as Illuminas set on 3, so as long as your springs are not too stiff they should work great. I have Bilsteins on one car and Tokico Illuminas on another and love them both.

I know what you mean about bad roads in CA. 350lb/in coilovers and Tokicos set to 5 makes me cringe over some of the damn potholes around here.

I have a set of Tokicos with my factory springs, and found the ride to be a little harsh here in NYC. The potholes on the Triboro Bridge lead to a failure of the right rear shock.

Not to dis the IRS or anything, Cause I would love to have one too!!!

But Griggs says that his Torque Arm & PanHard Bar Set-up can out perform an IRS!!!

If so I would think that the Griggs route would be cheaper!!! They use a soft springs in the rear on his set-up should give you a good ride on those sh!tty streets in CA. I think that Griggs suggests any where between 200-250 lb spring rate for the rear!!! Thats pretty soft!!!

P.S. taht is Coil Over in the rear too, forgot to mention that!!!
