Amps
I'm looking to get some opinions on sub-woofer amps. I plan on get a better amp sometime soon, it's gotta push two 12" solobarics. I've got a Sony XM-2100G right now, and its alright, but I want to get a little more out of the speakers... Any thought?

I use an Orion amp, bridging 200 watts to 2 10" JL subs. That amp certainly rocks, but I wish I had installedn an amp with more 'umph'. The Orion plays loud, but cannot handle a LOT of bass. I can be heard for blocks but would like to be heard for miles.

Yeah, I've tried an Orion before, nice amp, but just not strong enough to push the Solo's... Those subs sure are power hungry.
Are the Kicker ZR series worth the money? Anyone had any experience with them? |
i have the road thunder 2400x...it slams

I have a Kicker ZR120 pushing my Pioneer front speakers, and I cannot say enough good things about it. They are great for their high output, low impedance capability, as well as the 'modules' that you can add to them. If you have the money, a Kicker ZR amp would be a fantastic amp on 2 Solos.

I have a 600 watt crunch amp on my Mids and highs(Stop Laughing its better than just the Deck) But I love my orion 800 watt on two Orion XTR Twelves. Had the 600 on the same twelves and it is about 10 times better now.Do like I did go to a local radio shop and see if they have any of last years models,I bought mine for under 500 bucks and it was 800 only 6 months before.

Depends on your budget- You may want to look into a Kenwood Excellon KACX301T. It runs about 600 watts by 1 ch.(off the top of my head) and costs about $400.00 retail. If you want a little more power check out the KACX401M. It will do about 800 watts by 1 ch. for about $500.00. Both amps are built for running subs and come with a two year warranty. If you are looking for ALOT o' POWER look for a XTANT 1001dx. It will do 1000 watts by 1 ch. and runs about $1000 retial. The XTANT is one of the amps we use in most of our IASCA competition cars. It comes with a 4 year warranty.

I like the Kenwood series of amps, but the 800W pushed the Solo's about the same as my current Sony amp. Which is great for a lower priced amp, but so far I'm just getting ideas, my budget will be around $800-$1000 for an amp...

With that kind of budget, I'd invest in a MMATS D300HC (1200x1 at 2 ohms bridged). Probably one of the best sub amps available at the time. That 1200 watts is VERY conservatively rated, real world outputs can be up to 1700 watts RMS with a good electrical system. 2 Solos would hammer off of that amp http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif
