TBI to Carb/ DUI distributor ques.

I have an '84 LTD LX w TBI 5.0. I searched and got info about the fuel system. What do I do with the sensors? Just leave them unplugged? Will this cause the computer to mess with the ignition? The DUI dist. only needs a 12V hookup, it's self contained. Will the computer mess with anything else? I'm not worried about the cruise control. Thanks, Al

As for the fuel systems, it's pretty easy. Disconnect the in-tank pump and the inline pump that's along the frame (yes, CFI cars should have both) and jerry rig a wiring harness to run another electric pump OR simply replace the intank pump with one from an SVO that runs between 7-9psi and use a regulator. As for the computer stuff, just leave it and disconnect it from the EEC. It doesn't serve any purpose to remove it other than bare mounting holes (and I haven't had any problems). Any self contained (carbed) distributor should work fine. As long as the distributor doesn't require a signal from the EEC to operate then you're in business. Some MSD and Accel models will work too. I originally had a Mallory and ended up buying an MSD Billetech with an MSD 6A box. Works really well. Everything else is pretty straight forward. Might I also suggest that this is a great time for a cam. Everything will be off anyway (intake, valve covers). Your cruise may still work. I had to remove mine because I got a Weiand Stealth which is technically a high rise intake so it wouldn't reach far enough.
