How does a 7.91@85.23mph 1/8 mile sound

That is what the car ran with the swap to 4.10 gears. My previous best was a 7.94@85.22 with a 1.72 60 foot. The 60 foot time on the 7.91 pass was a 1.76

That sounds alright...nothing earth shattering. Sounds like the 60ft could be a bit better...but all in all not bad.

hippi97 11-16-2001 08:52 AM

60 foot needs to be alot lower.

Hyper92GT 11-16-2001 09:18 AM

I dunno, those look like solid times to me (bout a sec faster than me too!!). I assume your car is fully street legal so those are good times. What is the quarter mile like low 12's high 11's at 110 or so??
Congrats. Nothing like a little traction.

The Analyzer translates that eighth-mile et to approx. 12.39 @ 107.38

Not too shabby.

Considering your running a 600 carb and that eek! intake, your haulin!

hippi97 11-17-2001 05:26 AM

What carb and intake would you recommened

Coupe5oh 11-17-2001 05:40 AM

edelbrock victor jr. and 650 double pumper:D ok, most will say thats not very streetable, but i like the victor jr. it can handle those ls1's on the topend too...just my opinion

blue oval 50h 11-17-2001 09:38 AM

If its not a daily driver the victor jr and the 650 is right on. If its a daily car you could go with a performer, i like victor jr.'s better myself.

Another vote for the Victor Jr and the 650DP. I had a weiand intake and an edelbrock 600 on the 306 in my 69 coupe, but when I switched to the vic jr and the holley 650DP, the difference was amazing.

Well, the times sound pretty good. That's faster than my car will run. Until I get some traction that is ;)

I second, uh 3rd, well 4th the Edelbrock Victor Jr. and the Performer. They've both been around a long time and were the sh!t back in the day when carbs was all there was. A 650 cfm carb sounds about right.

What kind of cam are you running?

hippi97 11-20-2001 01:35 PM

Fms F-303

2FastLX 11-20-2001 01:45 PM

Good choice ;)

Are you thinking of adding forced induction later? Everyone tells me the F303 makes a kick@ss blower cam so that's why I went with it.

hippi97 11-20-2001 03:53 PM

I`m looking into a custom grind to take the place of the F. I have thought about trying some NOS and see how things started moving. It should fly or fly apart on a 200 shot.

2FastLX 11-21-2001 03:47 AM

I don't think a 200 shot is going to hurt you. They say 125hp is the most you should add to and engine equipped with hypereutectic pistons and the forged ones will handle a lot more. But you will probably want a bigger carb for that. You definately don't want to run out of fuel ;)

Just don't do like a guy I know did and try to run it without a wide open throttle switch LOL. It nearly blew his upper intake off when he turned it on in the middle of a shift!
