25th Anniversary Question!
Guys,
My car description is below, I was reading on a site that said that in 1990 they had an emblem attached to the passenger side above the glove compartment that says "25 Years" and had a running stang. I looked there today and saw that my emblem is missing!(looks like it was taken off) Is there always an emblem there or just for 25th Anniversary cars? How do I tell if my car is a 25th Anniversary if my emblem is gone !? Thanks alot guys! Abe |
your discription wasnt below on your post:) .It would have to be a 1990 to be a 25th anniversary, but just because its a 90 doesnt mean it was a 25th ann version. I think that the anniversary was actually 90 and a 1/2 but i could be wrong. A lot of the 25th anns. also had no arm rest on the center console. Only the 25th's have that 25th anniversary badge on the dash. Hope this helps:)

OK, now your discription IS showing up:confused: . I guess it doesnt show up on the topic review while your replying.
P.S. Sounds like something for the moderators to fix:D |
25th anniversary's ran from 89 1/2 to 90 1/2. theres suppose to be an badge that says 25 years on it with the running horse. does you car look like it had an running horse bagde at one time? i believe that the are rest delete begain in 90 1/2, and only lasted a short time. so if u have and arm rest u might have a 25th anniversary, but don't quote me to that one.

Ford installed a running horse badge on the passenger side of the dashboard, stating "25 Years" on the bottom of the badge. These badges were installed beginning in April of 1989 for one year, until April of 1990, the Anniversary model year.
I have no exact start or stop dates on the badges. After April of 1990, Ford kept the badges in place, but they were now blank at the bottom, so only the Mustangs built within the Anniversary model year will have the "25 Years" on their badges. Ford also had a "25 Years" water mark on the window sticker with the running horse badge during this time period. The center console armrest was absent on the early-production 1990 Mustangs (mine was manufactured in 2/90 and doesn't have the armrest) but due to buyer demand the armrest was replaced in the spring of 1990. |
No my car doesnt have an armrest, and it definately had an emblem on the dash cause there is a hole there. Can I buy the 25th anniversary emblem to put on my car, since it seems as if my car is a 25th anniversary ? :D
BTW I thought the armrest was added the second half of 1990 because drivers demanded it ? If so, then the stang "without" the armrest would be the anniversary addition ? correct me if im wrong  Thanks, Abe |
Abe:
Correct, a 1990 Mustang without the center armrest would denote an 'earlier' 1990 Mustang. You can check the (driver side) door jamb sticker for a month/year manufacturing date for your car. The 25th anniversary dash badge is hard to find. Someone probably took the one from your 'Stang as a souvenir. You can try the various catalogs and Mustang repro outlets in the magazines for a possible replacement. Good luck. |
opps, i had the arm rest thing backwards!

25th??
Well, I have seen them for sale at Mustang Resto (88850RESTO) and the people there are great (I swear I get no commission). It appears in the catalogue that the badges are the same size, with or without the "25th" on the bottom. Does anyone think these will be worth more than a regular 89 or 90 without the 25th??
|
Geez, I wrote the wrong phone number.
It's 866-50RESTO Part number 04460A $17 each. |
You can buy the badge from Late Model Restoration parts as stock89 said if you think it should be there, but that's the only thing that's really different about a 25th anniversary Mustang. There are no other mechanical or cosmetic differences so there is no added value in having it other than being true to the original appearance.

The 1989-1/2 thru 1990-1/2 had an emblem on the passenger side dashboard.
This is my bone stock 25th aniversary Mustang: http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/r...s/mvc-821f.jpg :D Also, the speedo only goes to 85mph. |

My car has a 4/90 build date and had the armrest delete (which I just sold) My emblem has the 25 years on the bottom. I am pretty sure my 91 had a pony logo on the dash, but IIRC it had no 25 years on the bottom, that was a reeeel late 91 I found a 8-13-91 date on the oil filter ( yes I bought that pony new, but it was stolen twice) |

I don't think that there was any "Anniversary Edition" for the 25th year. All Mustangs, including GT, LX 5.0, and LX 4 bangers through the dates that Mr 5 0 has said have the 25 years badge. There is nothing making any particular model unique as an Anniversary addition.
It is similar to the 1999 model year. All the Mustangs have a 35 year badge, but only a few GTs and I believe one Cobra were built with the "35th Anniversary Package" that included the hood scoop, blackouts, special seats, etc. |
