Hey guys. New to the site, I love it already. I am the proud owner of an 81GT. I have had it for a few years, and the body has seen better days. The engine is a little tired, but in it's hayday, It ran mid 12's. Now I can't break into the 12's anymore. Not the point though. Mainly, I am in the process of restoring the body. All body panels are stock, and I am battling to find aftermarket body parts. Mainly I am looking for a hood, and ground effects. But no one sells these items for my car. So, has anyone ever used ground effects on this model from a later vehicle? Also, I am looking for a forward facing hoodscoop for my hood. I have seen fiberglass pieces in the catalogs, but I am looking for a scoop that looks like the 2001 GT scoop. I have seen it on newer stangs (87-93). What parts do I change to make a 87-93 hood fit my car? Maybe that would be easier. I can't wait to get pictures for you guys, but I molded fiberglass scoops behind the doors, and made grillwork for it. Now it is a functional rear brake cooling method. Oh it is sweet. After I finish the body, on to the drivetrain. I plan on building a 400 horse naturally aspirated motor. 351W, with the goodies, t-5 behind it, with an 8.8 rear. I ran the 302 into the ground. I am not sure yet wht i am going to do for power....anyway, let me know what you guys think about the hood and ground effects. Sorry so long...

I can't wait to see the pics, that sounds interesting. Try www.yearone.com for restoration needs. Also for your hood get almost any issue of muscle mustangs & fast fords or 5.0 magazine and there are about a gazillion different fiberglass companies that might have something you like.

Mean81GT, aftermarket doesn't really care too much about the 79-82 stangs, so good luck. MM&FF magazine has been a great help to me in finding parts for my '79. I would love to see photos of your car though. Can't wait till you post them.

I have the Yearone Catalog. Mainly it is performance, with some interior parts. A better source along the lines of interior and performance is Mustangs Unlimited. I have seen every possible ad that MM&FF has, as well as 5.0. And you're right, Fox Body, nobody cares about the early Fox Body's. It's a shame...I mean, you have very collectible cars from that era, look at the 79 pace car? You can't get parts to keep the car looking new? Listen to my logic as far as the hood goes... The fenders are the same all the way from 79-93...so thats the same. Obvioulsy the nose is different, and the hood. I wonder if those are the only differences. As far as the groud effects, i have no idea.. aqnyone know???
