head choices

i was just curious what would be better to use on my car. I was wondering if i should just port my stock 84 heads or if i should go with 351w heads. which would give me better flow and more power??

get a set of 351w, they will flow better especially if you port them a little.
what is the rest of your set up like?

Well, I would advise buying new aftermarket heads. There are many to choose from, and the flow #'s are incredible. For the $$ you spend on porting the 302 heads, you minds well have bought some aftermarket heads. Unless you are doing the port work yourself, or are going for the stock appearance. The 351 heads are better than the 302, but the aftermarket heads still flow better. If you go with 351 heads, the first years were the best, 1969&70. Do some porting, especially on the exhaust ports, and with the right parts you can go 10's in the quarter.

the rest of my setup is basicaly stock, i have hooker headers with 2 1/2" exhaust, k&n filter, superstock coil with 8.8mm plug wires. The car runs 14.8 right now.

a semi-cheap alternative would be a set of world products iron heads...alot cheaper than aluminum, plus.. if you DO get a set of older 351 heads, you'll probably have to go thru them, put some new valves in and get a valve job done...almost the same price as the iron WP heads...PLUS, they're smog legal.. the older 351w heads arent drilled for the air pump lines...
by the way, I'm not sure when, but late 70's/ early 80's, they changed the 351 heads, they're identical to the 302 heads...

You have to deside how much you want to spend FIRST. Then narrow down ypur options.
