Desk top dyno 2000,any body ever"check" with real dyno pull after building engine?
Has any body ever used the desk top dyno 2000 to build there motor, then"check" engine with real dyno pull?
|
YES... I have used Desktop DYNO 2000... I built my motor about 2 years ago, and then after it was in and running I got DD 2000... (last Christmas no less...) a little bit late at that point, but I wanted to check my #'s anyways... so I played with it for a while and then plugged in ALL my specs... DD 2000 said I should be making about 330 HP at the fly and when I had it dyno tested this summer I made 267 RWHP... if you consider the 18% loss through the drivetrain I make about 320 flywheel HP... that means with my application DD 2000 was only off by about a 3%... so it worked for me, but we will see... I am almost done putting together my brothers 350 and DD 2000 says he should make about 375 HP at the fly... but it will be a while before I can have that Dyno Tested... just remeber that computer simulation like DD 2000 assumes IDEAL conditions for a lot of things...

Dyno 2000
I got it last year, too!Love playing with it,but wasn't to sure if #s
where real. Thanks for your input phontom50h,any body else ever "checked"? |
It's fairly accurate if you use good input data, i.e. head flow numbers, cam specs. For some of the mid-runner length intakes like Performer RPM and Track Heat I've taken the average of the Tuned Port and Sequential Fire fuel injection intake options. Also, I'm not crazy on the header/exhaust choices: it's kind of a guessing game. The roller lifter option models all roller cams as solid roller, which overestimates ramp rate and rpm potential of hydraulic roller cams. Try experimenting with the solid lifter to better estimate hot hydraulic roller cams.
Play with it a while to see how the numbers turn out before you use it as a tuning tool. Once you figure out all the subtle nuances, it's pretty handy to have and use. |
If you put the EXACT specs of your engine in, It's usually really, really close. But it is assuming your engine is perfect.

Awesome!!!
Where do you get one at and how much? Thanks, James |
