5" full length cowl, 86 mustang

I can't find a 5" full length cowl hood anywhere for my 86 mustang. I've already posted a few times but haven't had any luck. I need to get a hood ordered soon, but I haven't found anywhere that has the hood for my year car. If anyone could tell me who carries one or even if I could custom order one from somewhere I'd appreciate it.

Do you have any MM&FF magazines? You can't find anyone who sells your hood?

Have you tried:

Cincinnatti Composites
Motion Performance Parts
Harwood
Cobra Auto Design
Design Concepts
Cervini

Do you realize how big a 5 inch cowl hood is? My 4 inch cowl hood from harwood really measures like 5.5 - 6 inches.........So I'd keep that in mind.

I think Cervinis sells a pin-on 5" cowl hood. But do you really need one? Haven't been on the board in a while so I dunno what you're planning, but if it's just for looks the I'd suggest a 2.5" or something.

The only places I haven't tried are Design Concepts and Motion Performance Parts. A couple places have a full length for 1987-1993's, but none for 85-86, just the standard length. As far as needing a big hood, I'm swapping the 5.0 for a 429, and I'm running a victor intake which has about a 6 inch rise so I need as much clearance as possible, and I think the full lengths look better for the bigger hoods rather than the shorter length hoods.

I'm also throwing a big-block motor in my car (514c.i. or something like that) but I certainly don't hope I will need a 5" cowl hood. I think if you use a motor plate you can keep the motor low enough to get by with a 4".

We'll see. I hope I'm right. If you do get the hood and get it on, let us know how the clearance is.

Thanks and good luck!

I saw a 5" cowl hood in an add in a kit car magazine this weekend....I think the mag was just called "Kit Car" something or other....had a picture of a red AC Cobra replica with gold stripes and ghost flames.....suh-WEET!!!!!

I'm pretty sure a 4 inch would be tall enough, I just like the full length hood in 5 inch better than the four. I'll make sure to post pics a soon as I find a hood.
