Just bought from Cincinatti Composites.

I just ordered a hood from CC. The Cobra R SVO hood. They gave me $50 off the listed price. What is up with that. I am not complaining. Did anyone else end up getting the CC hood that they wanted?

.....

If I remember correctly CC hoods are like how do you say... marginal. Of course I never bought one but the word is they are crap... have you seen it yet, or just ordered? There's a reason they are cheaper than Cervini's :)

I've heard that awhile ago their quality sucked, but supposedly have changed since then.

Godslayer, Design Concepts is also much cheaper than Cervini's, and after ordering mine (for about $150 cheaper) and seeing that the fit and finish are about 98% perfect, theres no way I would ever spend $400 for a hood. I know you get what you pay for, so hopefully Cervini's sends a stripper as well as your hood because they aren't worth spending that much more money :D

I've heard that CC hoods aren't very good. And that their customer service SUCKS!!!!!.

2FastLX 12-04-2001 02:37 PM

I called them one time and was asking about a hood. The b!tch that answered the phone was nothing but rude! I've never hit a woman before in my life, but I could have smacked her.

As for the quality of their hoods I am still waiting for someone to buy one to tell me they are OK. I'm wanting to order one from them myself but am a little scared to do so. Please let us know how yours turns out guinea pig, uh, I mean GodStang :D

I purchased a hood from them 1.5 years ago and I have seen worse. I usually rebuild yearly Corvettes for a hobby and that is a industry that should not have a problem with fiberglass and I have seen parts that look worse then C.C.'s. Here is a link to my site I started with a picture of the hood and I did not block sand or fill anything, I sanded lightly and sprayed it black " the can not hide anything color"

They need more prep than the scuff and paint Cervinis. If you can sand and trim a little yourself, save $200 and buy one from CC. I drove there myself and picked out two hoods and saved the boxing and shipping charges. They do need a little TLC.

Five0 12-04-2001 05:04 PM

Hey 2fast, I called them also and got the same thing probably from the same *****. I do not see how they do any business with her answering the phones.

Stang Runner 12-04-2001 05:31 PM

I have bought Many things from them well like 5 things on every thing I bought MY prep time on the hoods was about 30min on it. It was Much faster and any Steel hood By far!!!! yes there was like 2-4 chips But that is like a 10min job Max... I went there in person.... I know why the poeple that you talk to went you call a Mad... I was there and yes they where not to nice on the phone they DO NOT have someone that gets the phone all the time. they stop the work they are doing and try to get the phone with out getting there very crapy Fiber glass hands on it!!

It will be awhile before I actually need a hood, but I think I'll drive over there in a month or so and see what they have. I'm curious about their scratch and dent hoods. If I can get one for around $150 that doesn't need a ton of work I may get one while I'm there. Drew, you ready for a road trip?

I am very satisfied with the Harwood that I got:

The only thing about Harwood is they don't have much of a selection unless you want a cowl, or a cowl :)

GodStang 12-05-2001 12:42 PM

The first time I called the lady was a B****. Than when we ordered it a guy answered and was nice. It should be here on Monday or Tuesday.

2FastLX 12-05-2001 12:55 PM

If you could get me some pics and let me know how the quality and fit is I'd sure appreciate it. This has been something a lot of people on here have been wondering about for awhile now. You're the first person I've seen brave enough to order from them lately.

I have a few comments on cc. Me living about an hour away from their shop, i pick up me hood in person. A 2.5 with svo scoop. The next day i realized that forward facing hood scoops are not legal in certain classes, not sure what class i will be racing in I called back to see about getting a different hood. I got it switched to a 2.5 with no problems. However my dad bulids fiberglass cars for a living and said that looked like it had been made like complete ****. He spent the better part of a week preping it for paint and it still fit like hell on my car after all we did. But being a budget person, i kept the hood. Several of my friends have bough cc hoods as well and only one of them fit WELL. This has all been in the last year too. CC has good customer service but the quality of their product is lacking. So it goes without saying, you get what you pay for. Buy a harwood or from somewhere else.
