T-5 differences/similarities: 5.0 vs 2.3

Aside from the differences in the gear ratios of a 5.0 T-5 transmisson and a 2.3 T-5 transmission (although 3rd or 4th is the same, I think), what are the other major differences OR similarities of these two units?

With the bolt patterns being the same, I am thinking that an unsuspecting buyer could purchase a car with the WRONG T-5 in it. Is it a safew assumption that the 5.0 HO T-5 is simply a heavy duty version of the 2.3's?

How can you tell which T-5 is installed in the car you are considering buying when they both can fit up?

Well, for one thing, it's impossible to bolt a 5.0 T-5 into the 2.3. The input shaft wll not fit the pilot bearing due to it's larger diameter. A 2.3L T-5 will not fit correctly into a 5.0 engine due to having an input shaft that is smaller in diameter. I cannot remember about the input shaft length, but I'm thinking they may be different as well. The T-5 in the 2.3L is not world class, features weaker gears, syncros, and bearings.
