The tires on my car only have about 2500 miles on them....the front tires are great...the rear tires have about half of the tread depth as they did when they were new....I like to see some big ole tracks from my 295/50s....:D

95mustanggt 12-11-2001 05:10 PM

Mine are totally gone. Driving in rain is like driving on ice. Sucks though, I was going to use my money for a set of gears, but now they have to go to buying tires :(

6T9PONY 12-11-2001 09:17 PM

hey don't worry about the tires...go with the gears!!! haha....j/k....do the safe thing!!!!

Rebel79 12-12-2001 11:08 AM

Mine come bald. Well what do you expect for drag radials?

fiveohpatrol 12-12-2001 03:57 PM

what about bald drag radials? i've got those! :D

the nitto DR's are awesome in the rain.... until they get about half of their tread gone and then its like driving a 500hp ranger with a single track rear end and 4.56 gears on ice

6T9PONY 12-12-2001 04:02 PM

that would be sweet to have a 500 hp ranger....you could scare the bejesus out of a lot of people with one of those....

6T9PONY 12-12-2001 04:13 PM

Haha...oh yeah! That would be scary.....very scary...I'd probably crap my pants a few times a week driving one of those things...I can't imagine how my girlfriend would react to that!! That would be hilarious!!

You think YOU have it bad? Imagine driving MY 400+rwhp car in the rain with Nitto Dr's! Especially when they are bald. I litterally have to CRAWL off the line or else I'm sideways. But other times I can ease into it pretty good in 2nd and not loose traction (till about 9psi) :D.

mustangman65_79 12-13-2001 12:41 AM

My old tires were so bald, the when I last spun them, doing a powerbrake, I blew up the left rear. I heard a pop when I was spinning them, and about an hour later, it went flat, I had to air it up every 1 to 2 hours. I finaly got newer tires, but they are getting the same way.

6T9PONY 12-13-2001 02:09 AM

That's probably not very safe man.....hehe......

mustangman65_79 12-13-2001 03:59 AM

I never knew how much fun it was to spin whenever I wanted. But tires are getting expensive, lol

84LX89GT 12-13-2001 11:36 PM

My GT came with bald tires on the front and now i put snow tires on them and i've never had bald tires on the '84. I hate having bald tires so i usually buy new ones as soon as they get down to around to 3 or 4/32nds tread (usually they start around 10/32 with the 55/60 series tires i buy). The only car i've had with bald tires was my '83 Mercury Zephyr and that was because i'd power brake it quite often (facing down hill in reverse with silicone lubricant sprayed on the ground :D) and that was only because i was selling it for $300 to a friend. It's too easy to hydroplane and lose control around where i live (crappy roads, lots of rain, lots of other cars on the road around here near seattle).

6T9PONY 12-13-2001 11:47 PM

Hydroplaning is some scary stuff......have you ever seen those little dune buggy things that have the paddle-like tires that can skim across water. I think they're similar or even the same ones that climb the really steep hills--like just about vertical.

It's awesome to watch those guys on TV.....I bet that would look insane in real life!

Unit 5302 12-14-2001 12:02 AM

I literally had NO tread left on my tires two winters ago. I drove the car through the snow that way. LOL. My dad was dumbfounded on how I could even get it to move.

Good tires make things SOOOO much better.
