MAC or BBK Longtubes on a '95?
I have a '95 GT 5pd. I'm going to put longtubes on it and I wanted to hear some opinions of other people about the quality, fit, etc. of these two products.
Any installation tips will also be necessary as this is my first stang, I'm a chebby convert. Rad... |
The BBK are really nice. Fit, finish, the whole shot. Really nice dude.
|
The only tip, I guess, you will have to raise the motor up to slide the headers in. You will probably have to extend the leads from your HEGO sensors.
I just noticed your post before this. 3" exhaust may be too big for your mustang. Unless your talking about bringing both sides into one outlet. If you are after nice exhaust that is loud, listen to Borla. |
BBK longtubes and a shorty H for our cars are only $420 shipped from summit!! You cant beat that!
|
BBK Longtubes Jet hot coated are like $379, that is the only way to go. Spend the extra $$$ and get them already coated.
|
I've contemplated this same question before, and I'm not sure which one I'd go with. In my opinion, both of their quality sucks. I think it'll will be a toss-up either way.
|
That is the stupidest thing I've heard in a while. BBK's quality doesn't suck. Now Mac is a little bit less in quality. I'd get BBK you will not be dissappointed.
|
I have MAC Shorts and new they have a lip in them right at the heads if you get those grind it out The BBK might not have a lip on it better Quality.

If your worried about heat...
Like 1BAD89 said, you could get the coated headers for $379. You could also save some major money and go with summit. Buy the BBK longtubes with the Shorty H and then buy some heat wrap for $20. If your not concerned about heat... I would also go the Summit route cause the longtubes are chrome plated. |
Thumbs down on the heat wrap. It actually will do more harm to the headers than without it. My friend has the BBK Chrome LT's, and they don't look real good, and it's been about 2 months since the install. I have the Jet-hot coated ones, and they look brand new, and it's been about a year and a half. Plus they didn't rust, and underhood temps. are reduced. My truck headers are also jet-hot coated.

Well your wrong about me not having very many BBK parts.
BBK Offroad H-pipe BBK equal length shorty headers BBK clutch quadrant BBK Cobra R wheels BBK white face gauges BBK subframe connectors BBK strut tower brace BBK cold air induction fenderwell mount BBK 70mm Throttle Body and EGR spacer and a few other things I can't think of right now.... RodsByRad Don't listen to this guy, BBK has very high quality products, the people that say they are low quality are the ones that can't put on an H-pipe, and then they blame it on the quality of the company? WTF? Every single one of the BBK products I have had are top notch, and they fit PERFECTLY. And everyone else I know that has BBK headers, etc...I've helped install them and they fit perfect and are high quality. Now my friend that bought mac, thinks they are crap. |
Yeah, don't listen to me....I know nothing about modifying Mustangs.
BTW, when did BBK add you to their payroll? |
Ok..back to the original topic, if your choosing between BBK, or MAC longtube headers, go with the BBK. I have yet to see anyone haveANY problems with BBK LT headers. I've installed probaly 6 different pairs, and they fit perfect. But use the extra cash and buy them already jet-hot coated,it's worth it.

Heat Wrap Is good for the car Helps alot with heat And Yes you are right Bad for the headers If it is a street car I not sure you want Heat Wrap But it Does work good
|
The thing about the heat wrap is, it keeps so much heat in, it'll eventually destroy the header.
|
Oh my bad...I should do some research before I post next time:D . I've just always seen some fast cars with that heat wrap, i thought it would be a solution. Just tryin to save the guy a little money, but if it destroys the headers I guess it's no good. I jsut hope i dont have heat problems as I am buying the chrome LTs and H pipe tomorrow.
