options with wrecked gt
 

well yesterday i hit a tree with my gt (posted about it in the lounge)
well i was thinking since i am not going through insurance cause i'm only 17 and they would rape me. i amnthiknig if it is over 2-3 thousand to fix that i could possibly buy a 4 banger notch that is clean for cheap and transfer everything over. i have the parts car so would it be very hard?
we are going to go get the fenders aand hood from cars sitting in a junk yard to keep copsts down.

I do have some money becasue i don't go back to school since february so anything uo to 2500 i can afford

There's a couple of 4-banger cars around that would be a good swap for a 302. One is on hwy3 on the way to Wheatley. Not sure what shape its in, but worth a shot to see. I know there's a ton of them in Windsor too. Grab a Tri-ad paper and look in there too. Myself I'd swap if the GT was totalled and the driveline is alright.

nobody was hurt but i was surprised how fucked up it is because of the fact that i was only goin 30 or 30 kmh

the only thing is my dad said no to the 4 banger idea already so i don't even know if i could do that

your 17? how close to 18? and your dads telling you what to do..whats wrong with parents now days...so controling..dont they realize it only hurt there children in the long run...sorry...had to vent...i mean..like telling your daughter who she can and cant date hang with be freinds with..etc...its just like smoken..your parents tell you its bad and not to and if you do you will get in trouble..so what dose that make you want to do....smoke haha...anyway..

yeah no kidding Unit 5302 I hear that! The conversion from 4 to 8 is pretty hard... its just an involved job... unless your going all out race car then I personally don't think its worth it... but thats my opinion...

Just find another 5.0 Mustang. If you can't do the work yourself, you'll have to pay someone else to do the conversion. The labor charge alone will kill you. Dad is right!!!

James - sorry to hear about your stang I hope you can save it! I must say being a father and reading these posts slaming parents; believe it or not - we don't do things go piss off our kids. Do you know the reason why your father is not in favor of the 4-banger rebuild? Maybe you can talk to him and find out what the reasons are for his decision. I have two teenagers and there are some things I won't budge on and other things I will - if I hear good reasoning from my kids.

My son and I are building an 88GT project together and it's been some of the best times my son and I have had in the last several years. Both of us will remember this experience forever! Once we get this project car done - we're looking to pick up another stang and build for race-only..

Rage_5.0 - sounds like your dad isn't objecting and trying to "run" your life there are two issues that he's bringing up. Do you have a plan for taking care of the two issues your dad has brought up? If so - have you talked it over with him? I know first hand that doing a major project like you're talking about takes time and a place to work it..

i would rather stay wutha gt because in my area there seems to be a lot more lx's then gt's and u can still be a little more unique

$3500-4500 canadian to fix it so it looks like i will just find a new 1 and sell this 1 as a parts car
