93 LX vs. 95 Cobra...

The s*** I get myself into... :o

My dad's got a '95 Cobra convertible. He paid three times as much for his car as I did mine, and he has less than half my mileage. He only drives it maybe 3000 miles a year. It's basically his warm-weather toy.

Anyway, it was beautiful out on Monday, so we both went out for a cruise. We hopped on 24 south, and just after merging, around 55mph, he hit it. I downshifted to third at about the same speed rolled into the throttle as I am wont to do. :D He got the jump on me at first, because I had to downshift, but it was the strangest thing. I closed the gap he opened, and then I just hung back behind him, both of us wide-open, both shifting into fourth until about 90. When I say I closed the gap, I mean I started five or six car lengths behind, he pulled a car length ahead, and then I returned to 5-6 lengths for the entire run. Damndest thing I ever saw.

We ended up at a stoplight a while later. I have what I refer to as the "short-stroke clutch option", whereby my quadrant is so far out of adjustment I only have two inches of clutch travel. He gave a few revs, while I held it just barely at the edge of engagement. Once again, he got the jump on me (my reaction time sucked). All the way up to 75mph, I didn't gain an inch, but neither did he. What's that mean?

I would Say Your car is not Running very good You should be able to walk al over him. OR you just cant drive or a bit of both
And your dad Can realy Drive and or you cant as well.

More than likely I can't drive. When we launched from a stop, we both got about the same amount of wheelspin, though, and I shifted to second about half a second after him...

After about 6 moths of having the car all I could do was a Mid 15 and after about 4 years I could get LOW 14's with the same mods on the car Tires and the drive Can make a Huge Diff

Yup Yup, can't wait tell summer, my dad and I are just going around to some local classic car shows. He has his '73 Vette and I got my '69 Stang (He owns half but it's mine tell I pay him off) lol =) But I'm sure we'll meet up at a light and have some fun. =) I know he'll win, cause he can drive, and me well I'm new. =) lol Some of the crazy **** I've seen my dad do, I think he'd take me in my moms mini-van. lol =) But all in time I will learn and get good. =)

Sounds good to me. Hes got better heads/intake, but you have the weight advantage.

You shouldn't have walked all over him. Sounds about right to me.

I agree with Skyman. The Cobra has a better combo and makes more power than you. Get some gears and free up your exhaust, then it'll be a better race.
