Coolant system help
I am installing a new radiator, thermostat, and new hoses this weekend. i was wondering if anyone could help me with the process of this project. i bought the 3 core heavy duty radiator from autozone.
Thanks, Nick |
I bought the 3 core one from pep boyz, i think its the same as yours most likely, but i had he11 getting the hold down brackets to fit, but i managed, just bend them a bit, or cut some rubber out, the hoses i would just put on how the old ones were on,:D the t-stat will be easy since you will already have that stuff removed.

Take the rubber pieces out of the brackets and turn them end for end. Put them back in the brackets and they should fit fine.
As far as the install goes it's pretty easy. Make sure you get the new thermostat back in the same way your old was is. Oh yeah, use only distilled water in your radiator to keep it from getting clogged up with lime deposits. |
It's pretty much just putting it in just like the old one (radiators, hoses, etc). Pay attention to how you remove the old stuff and just put the new one on in its place. Like, pay attention to which coolant lines go where into the radiator and just make sure you put them in the same place in the new radiator as the old one. If you bought the correct radiator for your vehicle, every thing should bolt up just fine with very little problems.
As for the thermostat, also make sure it's seated properly b4 you start tightening down the housing--- being aluminum (instead of cast iron), those thermostat housings can easily snap if the thermostat isn't seated correctly. Hope this helps. |
