FR500 Mustang???

Well, I was wondering if anyone has any info, pictures, specs..... about these new cars. Will they ever see regular(not limited) production?

I personally would love to see this car go into a full out production.

Thanks

You can forget about it intering production. The heads, intake, block, and all the go fast stuff will be sold in the FRP catolog.

they supposedly built them to test how parts will work. i heard they were supposed to have that sweet dual throttle body intake from Ford Racing. Is that the bullit intake? i cant remember

MidniteBlu 5.0 no that's not teh Bullit intake. The FR500 was a 5.0 liter(bored 4.6) DOHC. So than means that Ford is FINNALY gonna release some parts for the 4.6 DOHC Cobra.

Even if it were a production car, I doubt anyone on this board could afford one. I'm willing to bet with all the R&D they put into that car it'd be at least as expensive as the '00 Cobra R. A lot of the parts were aftermarket too, weren't they? The engine was a 5.0L modular utilizing something called "spray bore technology". The front wheels were moved a few inches forward to produce a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The front suspension was (if I remember correctly) an SLA setup with modified Lincoln rear upper control arms in conjunction with the regular front lower control arms. The wheels were specific to the car but I'm sure they'll be offered by FRPP. The dual throttle body intake system will probably never see a street car because it needed a special computer and getting everything to work in sync was a big hassle. Basically, it was a luxury version of the Cobra R. Big @ss JBL sound system, big power, good suspension, etc.

what would one do to make a 99+ cobra look like the fr500?

2FastLX 01-02-2002 03:35 AM

Why would you want to make a 99+ Cobra look like the FR500? That design is flat out the ugliest Mustang front end I have ever seen. Ford SVT obviously knows better than to try to sell a Mustang that looks that bad.

Here's what they should have done...

Whoa that is much nicer 2FastLX. Did you recreate the photo to make it look like the one on the right???!!! If you did, I have to say that I am beyond impressed this time 2FastLX with your skill! That is awesome. Did you draw in the hood, front, spoiler, etc? Man...

2FastLX 01-02-2002 08:52 AM

Yeah, that's my work.
I made this awhile back when someone posted the "before" pic and I about puked. So I brought the pic into Photoshop, and quickly got rid of the front end. Then came the cowl hood, then spoiler.

It was all done with the airbrush in Photoshop, and was my first attemp at redesigning the body panels on a car, and has been the only one since.

Oh yeah, after all that was done I painted it red...
