How much "room to grow" in the Edelbrock 6037's?

Is there much room for porting and polishing these heads to get more horsepower/flow? I want to get a head that can grow with my motor if I decide to go with a stroker or maybe a power adder later, ie. nitrous, blower or a turbo. I know the AFR's are supposed to be good for this, how about the Edelbrocks? Anybody running some serious air through a set of 6037's?

i just sold a sweet set of 6028s(6037's with a groove cut for wireloc headgaskets)

they were not opened up much...just smoothed and rounded and a sweet valve job done to them..they ran real well..i am getting AFR 185's now but thats becuz im doing a 351..MM&FF loved the 6037s and prased them to hell using them on all there combos until the AFR's came out..now AFR is the top head with them..if i were you id look into the AFR

If you have gotten the 2.02 valve head then there is a lil bit to work with there, BUT if you have the 1.90 valve then he says there pretty much doing what the valve allows.. (Heads Up Performance)

The 2.02 valves will give up to 10cfm more. You can work these heads to flow decent #'s. I'll try to get some specifics. Mine work well, & I have the 1.90/1.60 valves still..

Out the box the heads flow 225/175@.575 with a Hot Street/Strip port job they flow 255/200@.575 thats what the man told me a week ago when i inquired about them.. there Great heads for the highway use

I have an a-trimmed 331 stroker with the 6037(o-ringed). I don't plan on working the heads because I drive it on the street but I have no complaints with them the way they are.. I'm sure I could get more out of them, but I want it(the engine) to last a long time.

Edelbrock Heads

The only good heads are the Victor JR and of Course the newest and highest dollar heads the Glidens.
Ask yourself a couple of questions?

Is this truely a street emgine or is it the base for something much bigger? How important is low-end torque and a 6000-7000 rpm limit sound?

If you want good bottom end torque, use this a baseline, the smaller the intake runner size and the higher the flow numbers equals ***-pull-in Torque! I mean the type that pulls like well a mother. One the other hand.
The larger the intake runner size and the higher the flow means your torque will kick in at a much high rpm so will the horse power, this could be as much as 3000-4000 rpm difference.
Thats why must of guys have switched from other heads to AFR, 165 for the little brother 302-350 Cu.In and the 185 for the bigger stuff and the 205 for the bigger yet.. Heads are expensive, and yu only want to spend your money on once, Fox Lake has sveral heads that flow well and would make you good torque and horse power..
