Ford Newbie Questions
when swapping motors from an 87gt to a 89lx , do i need to swap computers
as well? will the 87 motor hook up and run fine using the 89 computer?also i am changing this motor to a manual transmission, do i have to have the crank machined to accept a pilot bearring for a manual tranny? is there any difference between the computer on an automatic and one on a manual(will an automatic computer work with a manual)? thanks |

The model year there was 87-93, same motor (mostly) throughout and the gts and lxs then were exactly alike, cept for aesthetics. http://www.mustangregistry.org/lx_87_89.htm
The 87 runs on speed density, 89 was the first year for mass air. The computer should work fine, its the same for those engines and the same for all trannys. I don't know about the pilot bearing though. |
