Discontinuing the 73 mm air meter?

Are they discontinuing the 73 mm Vortech Mass air meter? Isn't this the same exact unit as the C & L? The reason I ask is because the Summit website has them listed pretty cheap at $125.

Those meters are just a chunk of aluminum, you have to use the sensor etc from your stock meter. That is why it is so cheap. There are probably alot of them in a warehouse somewhere!

Ask anyone who has ever used those chunks of aluminum and they will tell you just how good they are. Vortech is the supplier for C&L. Summit just happens to have the best price around. Shop around and you'll see that everyone else is selling the same meter for $50.00 more. Make sure you get the sample tube to match your injectors. Check out other members profiles, they're popular and they work good.

I dont know if vortech is dropping the 73mm unit or not. But they are now offering a 76mm unit. I bought one from summit for $125 and am happy with it. As posted by 8950LX summit does have the best price. They might be trying to get ride of inventory so my guess would be that they are discontinuing this meter. Why not save a few bucks and get the 73mm unit. The meter bars are about $19 as far as I can remember.

Isn't it the other way around? C&L makes the meters. I'm running the new 76mm with the powerpipe on my car and love it. You can order the pipe separately from the meter from C&L to go with the 73's from what I've heard. For $125 you can't go wrong for the meter itself.

They're probably selling them cheap because most people are going with the 76mm or larger meters now. Seems like everyone wants an 80mm meter calibrated for 30# injectors and a 75mm tb even if they have stock heads and intake.

They may be selling them cheap because they're no longer going to carry Vortech MAF meters. They are now pushing the Granatelli units, which are made by Pro-M. J.R. Granatelli is fairly close with Summit (they sponsor his race car), so I would imagine they are dumping Vortech units to carry his exclusively.
