Pertronix
I've got a Pertronix Ignition coming in the mail for my 68 and I'm wondering about something. Somewhere in the fog of my memory I seem to recall that these old points systems ran on 6V unless you had the starter engaged. The full 12V gets delivered from the active solenoid for better starting, but once the solenoid drops out you only get 6V for better point life.
If so, do I wanna run my Pertronix on 6V? |
I don't think it is 6V but there is a drop off in voltage. When you get the Pertronix it mentions this and tells you how to check and see that you have enough. Sorry, I don' have the instructions in front of me.

Well thanks again Clark. I'll quit wondering now.
Hey, would you believe I found an original choke tube off a 67? Yeah! Got the insulation and everything. |
