Who makes the best H-Pipe
I'm going to be ordering a complete exhaust system this month. I've already ordered Flowmaster 3-chamber cat-back and I've decided to get FRPP ceramic coated headers. But I can't decide on which h-pipe I should get. Who makes the best(quality) h-pipe WITH CATS?
|
I've got a BBK off-road H-pipe - it's nice. I've also seen the BBK pipe with cats, and it too is nice. I don't think there is a large discrepancy in H-pipes - as far as quality goes. I would just stick with one of the bigger company's.
Why did you decide to go with FRPP headers, Flowmasters cat-back and then a different brand of H-pipe? Just curious. E |
I have had the Bassani X-pipe and had excelent powergains.....still have it if you want to buy it. I alo had the old powerchamber....not quite as good but was very nice sounding.
There is a new MAC crossover...the Pro-Chamber. It has tested above all th rest ad sounds GRRREEEAATTT. If you have longtubes thoug, BBK is theonly thing hat will fit unless you get a shop to weld in a knuckle to ft the headers. |
I have the Bassani offroad x and it's great. Good sound, good power easy install. Kind of wish I had gone with the x w/cats, but for ~$220 more I'll deal with my paranoia.

I have mac 2.5 offroad, it fit like crap, but it sounds alright, i heard that prochamber is nice, but i only paid like 130 for mine.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I don't think that the x-pipes would be worth the money for my application. I just want a high quality, 2.5in. h-pipe with cats that is coated to reduce heat on the tranny, and that will fit both manual and automatic transmissions. I've heard that Mac's doesn't always have a good fit and the HTS coating wears off quick. What about BBK? Does FRPP make ceramic coated h-pipes with cats? If so, where can I find them? anyone? |
I had the MAC h-pipe with hi flow cats and they sounded great. It was a little hard to get it installed but after a little bit of determiniation, I got it. I installed (last sunday) the BBK off-road h-pipe and OMG!!!!!! I never thought that my car could sound that good! I love it and am very pleased! It only cost 160 from summit. I think it was money worth spent! When you do get the new h-pipe, make sure that you get new O2 sensors.

LowDown - makes sense. FRPP would probably fit the best since they are a Ford product.
Just an FYI, I've never seen a coated H-pipe before. Headers yes. I guess you could take it to a coating facility and have them coat it for you. E |
