motor mounts install
 

I just got solid mounts and I am wondering if anyone on here has done it and how long it took. Thanks

I put Holcomb Motorsports solid mount on mine. I installed mine with the motor out. I really like mine. I will post some pics IF I can find them.

Tough lookin motor! Looks like it's got some ballz.

Mine are the Jegs motor mounts. Can you put them in with the motor in by just jacking up one side at a time? It doesn't look like there is enough room.

there is plenty of room, but you may also have to loosen the headers to make it a little easier.

I have the ASP aluminum mounts. I don't have any pics but there about 2"X2" of aluminum stock.

I replaced mine cuz they were getting a little old but they aren't solid. The installation is the same though. Friest, I supported the front end up on jack stands. Then I loosed the bolts on the block and the chasis for the mounts BUT DO NOT REMOVE THEM!!! I took a BIG piece of wood and placed it ontop of my 3 1/2 ton floor jack. You don't have to use one that big but it was easier. I SLOWLY jacked up the engine by the oil pan with the wood between the oil pan and the jack. Watch out not to raise it too high cuz the rear of the valve covers will hit the firewall and that would be BAD. I did it all myseld with simple hand tools in my garage laying on my back in about 90 mins. I was more worried about the engine falling on me. But I am gald to say that nothing happend as you can see I am here to wirte this... When you are tightning the bolts back down. It's a good idea to use a little bit of thread lock. Be careful not to over torque the two bolts that go into the block itself, you don't want to strip that. Hope it works out for ya.

Don't forget to loose the fan because when you try to jack the engine to clear the mounts the fan will press against the shroud and it may crack the fan blade. I almost did to mine.

Hey, what about solid convertible mounts? yeah, we made it into solid mounts. If any of you ever had the problem with vibration under your car like exaust right after you just finish instaling the solid motor mounts? Please I need info!

I have two "pusher" electric fans so you can almost stand in there. I am just thinking that I will have to work with the headers and h-pipe again to install the mounts. The passenger side header did not mate well with the Flowtec h-pipe.

Can't wait to start wrenching! Me and a buddy from work are going to do it at work but we have to wait for a certain store rep. to be there. When he's there and the manager's gone for the day sometimes there's three guys with their car in the shop.:D

Good luck. Mine were a pain in the ***. Getting them out was easy, they basically fell apart, but getting the new ones in sucked! You need alot of patience, and jack one side of the motor up at a time! Let us know how it goes!
