Broke two lines...Do I need new ones?

After I got my radiator out, I decided to take out the heater core and replace it too (I think it's the heater core that's in front of the radiator) Attached to it were two lines. One was from the a/c and the other one goes into the firewall. When I was taking the lines out, they snapped off right where they go into the core. What are the names of these two lines and do I have to replace the whole thing even though they broke at the very end??

Those lines are for the Air conditioner condensor. I think you could probably have them fixed. If you do not run air dont worry about it. If you want tour air to work you either have to have it fixed or by a new condensor and evaparator. Any good reputable radiator shop should be able to fix it though.

It's just the little caps on the ends of them. Instead of screwing out, they twisted and broke off. I do plan on running a/c (even though I have a short belt to bypass it) so I need to get them fixed before spring hits.

OK I misunderstood. It is still the air conditioner though and you should have them fixed. Was their anything that discharged when they broke. There should have been a spray of really cold FREON when the broke.

You got it right on the money. When the line busted, a little bit of freon came out because of the pressure that was still in the line. So you know what I'm talking about now?? The one line went from the a/c compressor to the core and at the core, it split into two and went into the heater core.
