how fast have you guys gone with a stock motor

How fast have you guys gone all stock? What about with just exhast and K&N? How many of you have seen a stock motored car get into the 12's with basic drag suspension, 4.10's-4.30s, 10.5's?

Me and Unit are having a duscussion about 1/4 times and I wanted some info. I personaly have never seen any times like these. But I'm not saying I'm right, that's why I'm asking. I did once see a 88 GT run a 13.9, but that was a freak occurance. He never ran close to that again, stock.

Rick 91GT 01-12-2002 10:46 AM

I went a 12.87 @ 104 with just 1.7's, K&N, ceramic long tubes, 2.5" off road and cat back,underdrives, 70/30's,50/50's, Eibach drag launch kit, no front sway, Weld big n' littles with 26" X 10.5" M&H RACEMASTERS dot approved, 3:73 gears, t-5 with a CF DF and a Pro-5.0. FULL WEIGHT 91GT.

The car got every bit of power it had to the ground, I had 1.60 60ft, and I cut a .501 light on a .500 tree. I was also able to get it to go 12.98/99 5-7 other times although most of the time it was a 13.2 car. The best I had ever done on BFG RADIALS was 13.28 I believe been a long time.

A lot of it has to deal with the driver...;)

I went 13.9@96mph with a completely stock long block, valve covers had never been off. That was with all the mods in my sig, minus the roller rockers (I never got a run in this past fall after I threw them on). I also think I could have done better, I never felt like I had a really good run the last trip to the track. And that's also with a set up for heads and an intake. I was probably hurting my times with the bigger exhaust and induction going into the stock intake and heads. I don't think it would be unreasonable for a good driver to get into the mid 13's with the right combo on a stock long block, maybe high 12's if it was stripped and had a drag suspension.

Blownpony91 01-12-2002 02:46 PM

when my 91 gt was stock, of course i had a k&n filter. i had no traction problems i hooked up fine, and i ran a 15.6. i fined it very hard to believe someone can get into the 12's with nothing done other then suspension.

poopstang 01-12-2002 03:47 PM

Blownpony91 you must not get out much

I ran a 14.5 with a 90 GT that had full exhaust, a couple suspension mods could get you clear into the 13's

Yan88gt 01-12-2002 04:40 PM

13.72@100mph. K&N,pulley, superchip, magnaflow cat-back,3.55,hurst shifter, removed some weight, hollowed stock h-pipe,short belt. That was on street tire( toyo proxess) and no front sway bar 1.97 60'. I could have gone faster with an iced intake.

Jeb_Bush_2000 01-12-2002 05:09 PM

First real run at the track, I hit a 14.09 @ 94mph, second run was a 14.2-something. Judging by how I launch the car most of the time (on the street), I think it really was a fluke...I doubt I could do better than that except with a few bolt-ons. That was right after I got the car, so it was exactly as it came from the factory, on a moderately warm day.

Blownpony91 01-12-2002 06:11 PM

POOPSTANG, im just telling you what my car ran when it was stock. i went and looked at the slip and its a 15.4 not 15.6.

but i also looked at my 60 ft time, it was a 2.3, so maybe i did have some traction problems.

by any chance were you running on a down hill track? lol b/c i find it hard to believe that you ran a 14.5 with only full exhaust

Five0 01-12-2002 06:57 PM

13.4@105 with all the stock parts except mufflers, chip, and gears.

Five0 01-12-2002 06:58 PM

O-yea, that was in my old 88gt.

It did have a lot of port work done but the parts were stock.

gtsr515 01-12-2002 11:57 PM

I went a best of 12.82 @ 104 at Byron, Illinois.

1993 LX 5.0 Hatch 5-speed

73mm C&L MAF
65mm T.B.
Pulley's

1.6/1.7 Roller Rockers
1&5/8" Long tubes
2&1/2" H-pipe into 2 chamber flowmasters dumped
Aluminum Driveshaft
Old Southsides
3.73 gears
Drag Radials

THE TRUTH, NO BULL!!!!!!

tireburner163 01-13-2002 01:44 AM

I'm askin what you guy ran with stock 2.73 gears. Also I'm talkin about running 12's with absolutly NO engine mods.

Unit says that his car is a low 13 second car(on slicks). I just don't see it runing that fast with just a high flow H-pipe with cats, a cat-back, a flex-fan, removed intake silencer, and a K&N. I really wish he would run it at the track, but from what he has described about the amount of money it takes for him to go to the track, I think it is out of the quesion.

Unit 5302 01-13-2002 02:24 AM

By low 13's that would be 13.3s or better. I do not know if my car is, or is not a low 13 car with slicks cause I've never run it with slicks.

I do know it's capable of trapping at over 100mph and running high 13's in it's current form with crap traction on stock street tires.

5ohCOUPE 01-13-2002 10:34 AM

I ran 13.52 @ 100 with stock 3.08 gears, 2.5 inch H-pipe and a k&n. Of course this was with slicks. Best on radials was 13.88 @ 99. I had nothing else done to the car but the above mods.

poopstang 01-13-2002 10:46 AM

all about the driver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blownpony91 01-13-2002 12:46 PM

tireburner, i agree with you there is no way that a stock fox body mustang is running in the 13's. i dont car what kind of suspension or slicks.

May want to read the post 2 above you. May also want to talk to Mr 5.0, who I know has seen a killer driver put a stock Fox with optional 3.08's into the 13.8's as I recall. Or read the rest of the posts with people running mid 13's with basically gears and very minor bolt ons.

Blownpony91 01-13-2002 07:02 PM

i have and i dont believe any of it!

Stang Runner 01-13-2002 08:23 PM

Blownpony91, I feel ya bro.. I does happen though. Its been happening for over 10 years now but I've yet to see it on the track. It all depends on the tune, the weight, the driver and the suspension of the car. There are those that can and have done it but they are far and few between.. it does happen though. I remember an article from 10yrs ago that listed 10 steps to get to low 13s with a 5.0, they were; slicks, gears, K&N and silencer, remove front sway bar, bump timing, iced intake, remove extra weight(I think), wash(yeah they actually listed that.. lol).. I really can't remember the rest at the present time but I'm sure I can dig it up for you.. I think mufflers and h-pipe..

The thing is... most of us will never see it. It has and can be done but I've yet to see a stock 5.0 run low 13s. It takes most of us heads, cam, intake or a blower and then we're lucky to get close to that..
