intake manifold
Whats a good 4bbl intake for a 289 w/ a 670 Holley.
I'm kinda looking for one thats on a 289 HiPro. Not sure if I want aluinium or not-still pondering about it. I don't want one that has a name on it like eddlebrok If it has something writtin on it, I want something like "FORD" or "Mustang" maybe even "COBRA" Damn, I can't spell worth beans. |
well, you could always grind the letters off of what you got... you'll want aluminum... 1st time you pick up that cast iron one. ;-)
ford motorsport sells one with a ford part number... high rise dual plane... same as the performer RPM...you can also get ones that say cobra on them ...places like mustangs unlimited sell 'em ;-) |
If you want the stock look in intakes go for the 84-85 Ford 302 intake aluminum and it's 4 bbl and had the FORD on it and was a factory piece. Not a hell of alot ot performance but pretty stealth. You can get those on ebay for 25 bucks.

defentily get an aluminum. They are tens times better. If u are going to spend the money on one it is the best way to go i think so anyway. LIke dark night said u can grid off the names that are on it then u can paint it if u are lookinf for stealth.

I agree with everyone above. For street performance, get an Edelbrock Performer (RPM maybe depending on application) or a Weiand Stealth. Paint it and nobody will even know.

Haven't seen anyone mention the old high rise "Cobra" intake. I understand it is supposed to be quite good and I think I saw it available as a reproduction now.

Can I fit a high rise manifold under a stock hood, of should I look for a low rise.
I saw a Holley shiny finish alu man yesterday that would look good with my shiny finish holley carb. I'm not sure about it though. I forgot to say I will put holley name brand parts on my car. Also, about painting it, is there a speical paint to use? |
They called the thing a high rise intake, and it was higher than a stock unit, but it wasn't real tall. It was offered over the counter at dealers and is the manifold on top of the Shelby engines. As far as I know it will fit and is supposed to be similar in size to the Edelbrock RPM.

if the car is stock, a performer is probably the best bet... you can get the polished from them too..

well, it won't be stock, look for my post in the oval room about guesstimating
