Whats the best cam to run with speed density.
I am going to need more than what I got to hang with my brothers and dads camaros..
I need a cam, My heads are ported polished and are at the machine shop getting larger valves. So I think I will see gains running a cam on stock heads. |
Without a chip-burn, or mass air conversion, I would expect driveability issues.

nah, you'll be ok. Just don't go too aggressive with it.
88workcar (where has he been by the way) was running deep into the 12's with I believe a E303 or B303. I've got the mph to be in the 12's, but I couldn't powershift my tranny (synchros bad) and didnt have great traction. So with slicks and a good T-5 (coming soon:D) I could easily hit a 12.8 or 12.9 I think. What year camaro are they? Stock? auto or manual? |
88workcar was nearly running 11's N/A with his E cam. He picked up a tick over the B cam when he switched to the E. Seemed to take him longer to get it right with the E cam though. He told me it took about 5min to tune once he figured out what was up. He seemed to have really good luck with both. The E cam has better drivability though. I think he may have been running 1.7:1 rockers.

Dads car 73' camaro 383 stroker 4.56 gears saginaw 4 speed
Brothers car 79' camaro 327 370 FWHP turbo 400 3.73 gears They both run low 13's in this crappy air wich is some of the worst you can get. I am just hoping to run a 13 anything ;) E-303 looks like the obvious choice |
I Would Run The Stock Cam With 1.7rr's. Get A New Intake, Those Heads, Good Traction & gear, And You Should Go 12's

I've had good luck out of an ultradyne stage one. the car idles at around 1500 rpm and loves to surge, but i can drive it anywhere. Just drove from Philadelphia to Boston, in the ice with all the front fwheel drives crashing. it's strange.
