Autometer oil guage question!
I have just installed a autometer oil pressure guage. When I turned the car on there was no oil going up to the guage. Does anyone know why the oil woul not go up the line? By the way I did kink the line but seems to me some oil should make it up to the guage. Thanks for your help.

You really should replace the line. A kinked line can prevent accurate readings, and worse, it can leak. As far as no oil entering the line, make sure that there isn't any teflon tape over the fitting that blocks the it's path.

Thanks for the info Buds! That pesky nylon line is so easy to kink! I comes coiled and wants to kink on its own. Is the copper or braided line a better way to go? Seems like it would withstand the heat better also? Unfortunately, those frills cost more money!

Copper is fine. The trick to getting the plastic tubing to work is not trying to straighten it out. Kinda hard to explain, but basically just keep it in circles when you route it.
Take care, -Chris |
the plastic line is not NHRA legal, so if you plan on going to a track where they check that kinda stuff you'll get rejected for it
it can also wear easily if its rubbing something and then produce leaks. NAPA carries the 1/8 copper tubing that you'll need, just get like 7-8 feet of it. It's not very expensive either (under a buck per foot). You can use the same brass compression fittings on the copper line too. This is what I did and it works fine. Except I ALSO got some teflon tape in the fitting and saw no oil pressure till I re-did it. Good luck |

Thanks for the tip thats what I am going to do! You wouldn't happen to know where I could get the compression fittings? I would hate to have to go an purchase a nylon tubing kit just to get the fittings?? |
You can buy all the fittings at the local hardware store probably. Any place that has plumbing supplies or you can you can gat them from Autometer. Jsut be sure to take the guage and line if you can when you go.
