1993 Cobra vs. GT(H.O?)
Okay I don't want to sound like a dumb ***** but hey I will probably sound like one anyways.
From a stock say 90 Gt 5.0 engine what mods were done to make the 93 cobra engine? i.e. Intake man. bigger t-body what size I don't know but it was done I believe...Thanks for all the help. I found an doner 5.0 because I will probably drop it in my stang. I found out that the engine in there isn't the original. And I have no clue what year it is and don't know how to find out, any info would be great. Thanks. P.S. I was really depressed when I found this news out. Thanks again. |
Not really sure on the 93 Cobra. But on the 94/95 Cobra they changed the cam, used a GT40 intake, GT40 heads, I'm not sure if they used the larger 65mm TB. Do a search in the Windsor forum, this question has been asked a few times.

same thing goes for the 93 cobra's. GT40 iron heads, Cobra intake, 24lb/hr injectors (GT's are 19s), 65mm TB(pretty sure). I think the mass air meter is a little bigger. And the Cobra's comptuer has less agressive fuel and timing curves.

Cobra Intake (GT-40 lower, Cobra upper. The Cobra upper is portable, the GT-40 not so much)
GT-40 Iron heads. Cobra Cam 1.7 Roller Rockers 65mm Throttle Body 73mm MAF Sensor Cobra Crank Pulley 24lb/hr Injectors Cobra Computer Conservative rating 235hp, 280ft/lb. In reality the Cobra puts out about 260hp. Simply changing the computer to a more aggressive Fox computer, and adding full length headers, H-pipe, and cat back exhaust can push power to 300. The Cobra Cam is weak, originally designed for the Thunderbird 5.0, it becomes decent with the addition of the 1.7 roller rockers. Upgrading the cam along with the mods listed above can push power well above 300hp. |
