More Tokico Questions
 

Now that I've decided on the Tokico struts/shocks (thanks to help from you guys :D) my question is, do I really need the 5 way adjustables?

Through Thunderbolt Motorsports (Thanks for the tip, Unit) the non adjustables are $317 and the 5 ways are $488, so its enough of a price difference to really think about whether or not I'll put them to good use.

I don't plan to compete with the car at all, but I do live in the mountains and have wonderfully curvy roads to take advantage of. How exactly are they adjustable, and will it really be worth it for a daily driver?

I've only had mine installed for a little over a week, but the adjustables will feel extremely different depending on what setting you have them on. On the stiffest setting I feel like I am on rails but every little bump is felt. On the softest setting, it felt a lot like a Crown Vic and I hated making any turns. I ended up sticking it right in the middle for right now and am extremely pleased so far.

I'd imagine that you'd never change the settings once you set them where you wanted them, so the "adjustable" aspect wouldn't come into play very often. They're great when you're setting up the car, and lots of fun to figure out how you want them set, but once it's where you want it.... why change it? If you go with the non-adjustable ones I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results, being as anything will be better than your worn out stock pieces, but if you're picky about your ride quality you may want to go with the adjustables.

I would have probally gotten the non-adjustable ones if I haden't found such a good deal on the adjustables... they were FREE! :D

Hey M-belle, if you feel strongly you'll never use your pony in a driving event, then the 5-ways are probably not worth your money.

I use the 5-ways, and I really like them. However I use my 'Stang as a multi-purpose vehicle: autocross, open track, drag race, and up until last year, as a daily driver. Il set the Tokicos on soft for a better drag launch, then back to firm for open track use. For around-town driving, I'll set the fronts on 4 and the rears on 2 or 3.

I absolutely like the adjustability of the Tokicos, but if you don't think you'd use it then I'd suggest saving the money for some subframes or lower control arms.

Hey Russ I think you're right. A year ago I would have gone with the 5 ways, but now that I've taken up riding, I don't really care too much about the Stang...its just that since I need to replace them anyways, I still feel that modification bug :D and don't want just stock replacements. I think I will go with the non adjustables and put that extra money toward my HEAD PURCHASE :D :D :D

BELLE, I have Tokiko adjustable and I don't know if there is something wrong with them but no matter what adjustment I set them I never notice any difference so I just left the front at 4 and rear at 3.
In my opinion you are better off saving the extra money for your head;)

Thanks for the advice, I think you are right. I probably wouldn't even be able to set the darn things right anyways...would just be another headache that wouldn't really benefit me enough to be worth it. Thanks again!

Does anyone know anything about the 5 way Adjustable Tokico Drag Struts? Just wondering what people thought of them. Are they like a stock strut that can be adjusted to act like a drag strut? Can they be used for handling too? Any info on these would be appreciated. Thanks.
