Help!? How do I tow a 1994 Mustang GT??
 

Okay, so I am moving down to Blacksburg, VA.....and "Belle doesn't want to have the Mustang driven for 420 miles. Sooooo.... I need to try to tow it behind the Penke 15' truck I rented. Only problem is that their tow dolley and "car arrier" has a MAX of 16" rims with a MAX width of 225 and 265 respectively.

She currently has 17" Corba R wheels on it.....front is a 255 and the rear is a 315. Is there any way I can still use the carrier? Also, I got a 300ZX lying around with 16" 5-lug pattern wheels. ANy chance I can swap the wheels to tow it? I mean, I know it's "Jap Crap", but the lug pattern may be the same? (doubtful though).

Any advice is much appreciated:D

Why not buy a set of used wheels and tires that will work, most tire shops have some junk, that would work they have to be nice and new. They might even have some you could borrow. Don't run out junk yards..
Just make sure the tires that are in contact with the ground are good, unless you using a trailer, it sounds like you are planning on using a Dolley, which will work. Just an idea maybe a buddy has a set of smaller compatible wheels tire that would work?

You might do more damage towing it than driving it, especially with a dolly. A lot of crap comes off the back of the tow vehicle and it can wreck paint and windows in short order.

We called Ryder and they said they can make it work, and for not much more than Penske. Also, we are driving down Route 81 in VA, so it doesn't really matter whether its towed or not road-junk wise...there is already so much crud on that road from the thousands of 18 wheelers every day. I do have a very recent paintjob, but hey...its a car-therefore I drive it :D

Never tow a RWD vehicle on its rear wheels. It's bad for the differential and transmission. If you use a dolly make sure the front wheels are what makes contact with the pavement. The best way would be with a full trailer. I always cringe when I see those RVs towing cars on all four wheels.
