Buying lifters!!
 

Well i've come down to having to do something about that ticking noise.. I've adjusted the valve train, changed the exhaust gaskets, changed the sparks. and the ticking is still there. it's not just a tick any-more its a really loud tick. So i've decided to get a set of lifters. What else could it be. if anything it will eliminate them from the problem. If there is a reccommended lifter for the type set up that i have please let me know. It's starting to sound very unhealthy. I've got Moroso svo roller rockers, 6.70 trick-flow pushrods, an F-303 cam(moroso), and trick-flow twisted wedge heads with 1.8 springs. at least thats everything that i found out. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Buy the Ford lifters from a Motorsport dealer. They're the same as the Crane but cheaper. I got mine for $115 from a local Ford Motorsport dealer. Be sure to install the lifters with the drain hole on the lifter body facing the lifter valley to help keep them full of oil.

thad, injectors also make a ticking sound like you describe especially when they get bad. i thought my lifter and rockers were bad and adjusted them a million times till i realized it was my injectors. just an idea

It could be and probably is a lifter. You may want to investigate a bad valve guide though. Do any of your plugs have oil fouling to any degree? (Oil on a plug could be ring wear too.) Even if not you may have enough guide wear to make noise. A mechanics stethoscope may help you track it down. If you are running 1.7 rockers it will increase guide wear. In any case, good luck.

Thanks for the input all. I'm gonna go with the lifters first and if that doesn't take care of it than i'll check the injectors, if that fails i'll have to do a rebuild on the heads. New valve guides, retainers, etc. The noise has got to go one way or another!
