Box style uppers
 

I was jsut wondering i know these thigs are for more high RPM racing but I also heard that if you go forced induction these are a really good choice????

ANyone know


I mean is a $300 upper plastic box better then teh systemax II intake?


By the way it goes on a engien built wiht a powerband up to 6500.

Even blown, on 302's the box intakes are for a high rpm range (4500-7000). They work well on stroked 351's when used in conjunction with a GT-40 lower because the large cube motors don't need runner length for torque and need short runners for 6K rpm breathing. Even then, better performance can be found in the TFS 351 intake.
For an inexpensive, high flowing stock-type intake, the TFS Street Heat is great and costs $400 for upper and lower.

I have yet to hear anything good about the box uppers on anything less than a full blown race motor, and even then there are people who don't like them. If your running street/strip don't even consider it. Just my.02

The box style uppers aren't really necessary anymore. They are for high end applications like big hp strokers or blown setups. They are terrible for low end torque but flow like nothing else in the upper rpms!

i seen them only used with great results(for the most part) on turbo cars..even then the restricking in the stock intake manifold is the lower so a gt-40 lower or a system max1 stock looking lower would be benificial
