I used this diagram to re-wire my battery. Now I have a problem, the DARN headlights will not turn on... Everything else works the turn signals, hazard, radio, high beams, etc. I have a 3G alternator and I disconnected the black/orange striped wire from the back post of the alternator and covered it. In it's place I connected the 2 GA wire from the disconnect switch to the back post of the alternator. I am absolutely

-Check out all possible grounds, did you possibly blow out these lights, fuses? battery ground?, engine ground?

Retrace your steps!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the help, gtsr515.. The engine/battery grounds are good and the fuses look good. As for the headlights, they do go on when I flip on the high beams.. Are there any switches that could've gone bad?

There have been some known problems with the headlight and foglight switch assembly which could be causing you problems.

Ford placed a Technical Service Bulletin (89-17-11) addressing the problem which calls for a replacement of the switch and few other componets. I don't believe there was ever a recall, however.

Since the problem occured only after you made some changes, I'd double check everything before you go replacing switches. The culprit is likely something else.

Something I just thought of, and I doubt this is your problem, but I thought I'd bring it up.

Ford had a recall on Ignition switches awhile back.....hhhmmmmmmmmm?

Jeez, my diagram really gets around!! hehe

Seriously, I don't see a reason that it would affect your lighting.....check your grounds and fuses and of course, check your bulbs!! If the lights come on with the brights only then it's most likely your bulbs. Somehow they got blown out.

Then again, it could be something else so just be patient, you'll get it. :)
