Oh great another California Clunker bill for all. I'm starting to think that the auto companies have something to do with this having bought very few brand new cars and the one's I've had I've drove into the ground or pulled a perfect engine and dumped it into an older car. I'm a pretty good target for this scrapping thing. Everyone should write some hate mail to there represenitives on this.

Introduced by senators from South Dakota and New Mexico. Not exactly bustling states. Don't worry too much, SEMA is already aware of this, and is in the process of shooting it down.
Take care, -Chris |
The link I posted was to the SEMA consumer site where they ask hobbyists to contact their legislators about this. SEMA can't do it alone. Most of the modified smog laws in California are do to car clubs and hobbyists contacting their legislators. There are WAY more lobbyists on the side of the environment than there are on the side of car freaks.

I am a SEMA member, and am surprised I was not specifically notified. Their monthly magazine always lists their accomplishments, but doesn't ask for help, unless they really feel like they need it. When this issue came up, they made it sound like it was under control. I wonder if they are adding that webpage to get input from every day people, or if they were too proud to ask the members for help. Hmmm.
Take care, -Chris |
Just received this e-mail from Summitt
Dear Summit Racing Customer, Your hobby is in danger! Proposed U.S. government legislation, U.S. Senate Bill S.1766, would allocate federal funds for state scrappage programs for vehicles more than 15 years old. In the process, it could threaten the very existence of our hobby by: *Destroying 1960s and 70s era musclecars *Scrapping 1980s performance vehicles like Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes *Eliminating many non-performance vehicles which provide an invaluable parts source Take a stand for your rights--and your hobby--by letting your U.S. Senator know how this bill will directly affect you. Log onto our website at http://www.SummitRacing.com for a copy of our Legislator Letter, which you can print, sign, and mail to your Senator. Then, go to http://www.enjoythedrive.com/san for a complete list of legislator names and addresses, plus additional information on U.S. Senate Bill S.1766. Act now--your hobby may depend on it! |

There not Nazies there Democrats, oh, wait that is a nazi.
I never did like New Mexico the Idiots can't do a damn thing right, This is just making it worse. I live in West Texas, they took all the good water from the Pecos river and from the Rio Grande, When it gets to Texas its really low on water, and is salty. The Rio Grande doesn't even reach the Gulf of Mexico anymore, I hate those Morons. |
