Hatch noise/low speed bucking
 

Hay Guy's.Can anyone tell me how to eliminate a noisy Hatch? What do I look for in tightening it up? Its irritating driving and hearing this thing squeeking.Also? When you close the hatch? You can lift it about 1/2 in.Secondly? When I shift down into first and idle along? I get bucking/jerking sensation till I add some gas.Driving habit? or other?Many thanks for the help guys.I come often for all the great advice people offer.

as for the hatch take off the rear panels and you should be able to untighten the latch plate thing and it sounds like you need to lower it. Just mess around with it and you should be able to get it perfect. As for the 1st gear bucking when in 1st gear without gas, i'd say just about every car does that, all manual transmission cars i've ever had have done that, i am of course assuming you have a 5 speed. To stop your hatch from rattling adjust the rubber stoppers on both sides. They will twist in or out. Dont mess with the latch, you are going just create more problems.

One of the big reasons it bucks down low is because of the 2.73 gear. Mine did that really bad till I changed it to a 4.10 which has eliminated that. It bucks due to the lack of throttle, which almost stahls the car becuase of the load on the clutch, by changing to a lower gear such as 4.10 the car turns higher rpms at lower speeds which causes the problem to go away.

Thanks for the input 84stangLX MustangLX90 93CobraR.The simplest solution worked.Theres no more play in the hatch.I'll be more aware of my driving habits so I can avoid the*buck*. Just a side note? Buying this 88MustangGT 5.0 was the best thing I've ever bought.Makes driving a real...Rush/pleasure
